I cannot answer in Italian, as the previous answerer aparently did, but I am Italian, born here, and completely understand where you are coming from on this.
Italians are so often portrayed as La Cosa Nostra, few really are, I guess. However seldom is it complained about. Now if a black person is portrayed running out the door with a TV, that's being racist.
