Why is American culture so popular around the world?

You never see a foreigner using British slang like "cheerio matey would you like tea lad?" They always try imitating the American accent and use American slang in their vocabulary. Why is our culture so popular in the world? (God bless America, the greatest country in the world)

Could it be because our media? American movies, music, tv shows, etc..."oh my gaaaaaaaaaaaad" is another popular American phrase said by non-American.Why is American culture so popular around the world? You seem to have compared British slang from the 1950s with USA phrases from the 1990sWhy is American culture so popular around the world?
could it be that you are xenophobic.

I have never heard anyone say those things

America the country with the largest number of Jailbirds,Sicko's 40,000 homeless in L.A alone, debt ridden, living in cloud cuckoo land. They talk the talk but never walk the walk.

Promise so much in Aid but too many conditions attached like you must buy American goods.Have America paid the promised money to victims of the Tsunami?

Americans should be ashamed of the treatment of the residents of New Orleans

The greatest group ever The BEATLES were British

You couldn't pay me to live there! Why is American culture so popular around the world?I've never heard a foreigner say "Cheerio matey, would you like tea lad?" I have never heard an English person say it either. "Would you like a cuppa?" promise I won't put any arsenic in it.Why is American culture so popular around the world?
American popular culture is undemanding. It does not require a person has a particular faith or political point of view.

Most importantly, it's based upon freedom of choice. You don't have to drink Coca Cola, you can have Pepsi or anything else you like. "You want fries with that?"

I was born in 1941 and grew up in the immediate post war years here in London. By the 1950s us 'kids' could not get enough of this. . .

The above is very typical American popular culture of the 1950s. Like I say, it's undemanding. You are not asked to believe in anything in particular, except be free.

Here's Britain's answer to Elvis - Cliff Richard in the 1950s - this is not English music, it is American and we kids back then could not get enough - we even had it on TV.

AMERICA IS THE EMPIRE OF LIBERTY

In plain English THE PERSUIT OF HAPPINESS etc.Why is American culture so popular around the world?Because everything about American culture is cool: the muscle cars, the rock music, the fast food and the clothing. Why is American culture so popular around the world?
There is a difference between popularity and notoriety.
lol! well, i see your point, but not even us Brits use your examples of slang anymore! haha!!

but yeah i think it would be down to the media.
