Hi I am from Europe, some American movies make references about blacks, fried chicken and watermelons. What is?

it with fried chicken watermelons and blacks ? I dont get it. What is the connection there. I do get the whole cotton remarks since they were forced to work on cotton fields, but what is the connection to fried chicken and watermelons ?Hi I am from Europe, some American movies make references about blacks, fried chicken and watermelons. What is?during the era of anti-black atrocities from 1500s through the 1970s (although slavery in particularly 1500s to 1865), a common food white slave owners gave slaves was nasty-@ss leftover watermellon and chicken; rather than throwing things in the garbage, they gave it to slaves after the slaves were the one who prepared that kind of food for the slave masters. What with that being one of the only things they could eat, whites began poking fun at blacks about it, adding it into children's books, movies, etc. etc. To this day countless whites are still evil enough to make jokes about that not knowing the egregiously racist history behind itHi I am from Europe, some American movies make references about blacks, fried chicken and watermelons. That's how Americans are

No matter what race you are you arent safe from stereotypes

Im black and I would rather bake chicken and I dont like watermelon so as you can see there is no connection just ignorant peopleHi I am from Europe, some American movies make references about blacks, fried chicken and watermelons. What is?The connection is the American South. That fare was common in the south, and a lot of stereotypes associated with slaves and free Blacks is that of the lazy Black man sitting around eating watermelons while the poor White man goes off to work. There were even cartoons in the newspaper depicting this, complete with distorted eyes and lips on the Black people.
im black...im a vegetarian and i don't care too much for watermelon...so what's ur point?Hi I am from Europe, some American movies make references about blacks, fried chicken and watermelons. What is?Just racist stuff, like us and Kool-aid. Also like Mexicans and tacos or Chinese and egg rolls. Prejudice people take the food you eat often and link you with it. BTW, we all don 't just eat chicken and watermelon. We eat a variety of food like anyone else.Hi I am from Europe, some American movies make references about blacks, fried chicken and watermelons. Because it's good.Hi I am from Europe, some American movies make references about blacks, fried chicken and watermelons. What is?
Nobody likes to hear it, but the food is really a descendant of what ex-slaves were fed. Blacks have simply incorporated these items as part of their ethnic diet; it's no different than an Italian family eating Italian food multiple times a week.

Actually African slaves were feed more than just fried chicken and watermelon. Some slaves were fed Lobster(delicious) and crabs, because it was so plentiful at the time slave owners at the time considered it poor man's food. Also other items like left overs from animal butchering like pigs feet and vegetables like black eyed peas %26amp; collard greens. BTW, the black eyed peas and collard greens are extremely high in nutrition and I've started to incorporate them in my diet.
they have an obsession with fried chicken and watermelons. like a dying man in desert want a glass of water
