How come you see so few native americans in movies?

It doesn't count if they're playing a native american role in the movie. How come I hardly ever see a native american in a movie? And I've watched alot of movies...How come you see so few native americans in movies?that would be a question i'd love to see answered by hollywood producers. even the native roles are most often played by non native actors in "red face". its pure discrimination.

herre is one example. http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs鈥?/a>

this movie about an all indian owned ski resort, was written by a white woman, Kate Montgomery who after having lived around native people decided to write a movie with them as main characters since she loved their humor. she found producers who liked the story and were interested in making the movie but with one catch....she was told to change the main characters to irish instead of natives. she refused and they showed her the door.

as a result the film was independently produced and was never shown in major theaters around the country. as roger ebert says its a history making movie because " the movie is about affluent Native American yuppies. So many movies about American Indians deal in negative stereotypes that it's nice to find one that takes place at an upscale Indian-owned ski resort. The only alcoholic in the cast is a white undercover investigator for a guide book."

for now, the only way you will see contemporary native movies is to get the ones made by native producers. hollywood isn't interested in us unless we are wearing buckskin, feathers and look italian.
