I usually don't watch too many American drama or romantic movies, but when I do I notice that us Mexican dudes are always portrayed as criminals or evil men. For example in a movie with Selma Hayek and some Perry guy the white dude is seen as a liberator of Mexican women from Mexican men. I have seen plenty interracial love stories of Black/White men with Mexican girls, but none the other way around. Yes I know the same could apply for Black men, but there are movies of both types, where he is seen as bad and good. I recently moved from a majority Mexican town to a mixed race town. I notice black guys and white guys are just as fallible as I am. One white girl even told me that I was tallest Mexican she ever saw. I guess she assumes we're all 5'3 and fat. BTW I'm 6'2 of mostly Mayan descent. My dad is full Mayan :)Why are Mexican men portrayed negatively in American movies?I don't care what the movies say, I love me some Mexican men....you guys are good in bed!! and sexy as hell....**** the movies!!!Why are Mexican men portrayed negatively in American movies?
because when the white guys in the corporate movie office want"gangsters" or "thugs" ina movie they believe that minorities fit these roles more "accurately" than a white guyWhy are Mexican men portrayed negatively in American movies?they're in our country america film markers can portray them however they'd like. if they don't like it get out
yes i am racist that's why my dad's hispanic i am just saying it's a movie they can portray them however they would like it has nothing to do with mexican tons of whites %26amp; blacks are portrayed as bad too. as specially african americans in movies. when someone thinks up a movie just like writing a book you have your own idea of a how a person is going to look
Well at least it's not as bad as Asians we always get ridiculed like in that new movie "the goods"Why are Mexican men portrayed negatively in American movies?Well I don't know what else to tell you except that Mexican men aren't the only ones portrayed in this way. Yeah I know you mentioned black men as well, but it's the way the bread crumbles. No it doesn't feel good seeing your culture portrayed in this way majority of the time, but that's America for ya. Personally I don't like seeing my black men always playing the same role in every movie. It's like they are specifically picked for those parts all of the time. For once I'd like to see them acting in a decent role and not all dumb or gang banging or selling drugs or abusing and pimping women or walking out on the mother of his child. And if they do get a good boy role, they end up dying for trying to do what's right. So it's really a no win situation. I'm sorry......Why are Mexican men portrayed negatively in American movies?
In Japanese and Indian movies, it is the white guys who are more often shown as the evil ones. They look and sound different from the target audience (and the film makers), so it is easy to make them into villains.
The natural tendency is to think that people different from us are more likely to be bad or weird or evil or just different. Since Hollywood is run by a bunch a white guys, you will see white bias more often. It is not good nor fair, but as the world gets smaller, we are seeing less of it :)
I hate people that think Mexicans have only been in America as of after 2000, we;ve been here for generations and there is such thing as a Mexican American you idiots. Not every Mexican you see is fresh off the border sheesh.
On another note Hollywood loves to portray people in a stereotypical manner blacks are always seen as loud, asians are always seen as kung fu characters, and with mexicans were seen as cholos and criminals. I don't know why but that;s the way Hollywood has always been. Why are Mexican men portrayed negatively in American movies?
just like how white aliens always want us Natives to seem like the bad guy in every movie and the little whites always say i want to be the cowboy and kill the indian. but in reality whites are the bad guy and still are.
you mean like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lj056ao6GE
ever hear of the saying
He who pays the piper
calls the tunes
It is all about dividing people
into us and them
some of it is base on fact
well, more highlighted
if you look hard enough
you will find anything
if you are poor
you have to do nasty things to survive
this will be more in your face
when you get richer
you make it appear nicer
even when it is far worst
it not just Mexicans
I know what you are trying to say. They just show the stereotypes. I seen movies were we are portrayed as gang members or just criminals. A guy told me that I don't look 'Mexican' without trying to offend. He tough that I was from Spain. I guess because I'm 5'10 and light skinned.
