Or are they just exaggerated?
what are some untrue stereotypes about america, and american high schools that really annoy you?Are American High Schools as cliche and stereotypical as they are in movies?90% of the things on TV are exaggerations for entertainment.
High school for the most part is not like what you see on TV. A lot of the kids doing what they do on TV, could NEVER get away with doing so in real life.
1) Talking on the phone/texting in class -- A lot of kids in real life would get in trouble for doing that and get their phones taken up.
2) Smoking and hanging out at lunch -- I don't know of any high school that lets their STUDENTS smoke on school campus. Not even the teachers do that..and if they want to, they'll go outside and out of sight.
3) Talking back to teachers and cursing them out, then walking out -- Again, you would be in deep sh!t if you did that.
4) Everybody has a car -- A lot of kids, especially in this recession we're having won't get a car until they're about to go to college or even after they graduate from college. If they do, it's not a nice Mercedes like all the kids on TV have.
That's just a small bit of the stereotypes I covered. So yeah, most of it is exaggerated. It does really annoy me because WE Americans know it's not true, but there are non-Americans who watch these shows and just make the assumption that it's true because it's all they say. It's understandable, but I just wish people would actually come here and see for themselves what it's like. Are American High Schools as cliche and stereotypical as they are in movies?
90% of the time they are exaggerations, like everything in the movies. The biggest false stereotype that also annoys me is the idea that American high schools are massive, up-to-date and full of bright eyed cheerleaders, jocks, and that one black kid who'll be in the NBA someday. Truth is America's public high schools are broke and outdated with a bunch of C- students. Yeah there are cliques and bitches but that happens everywhere. Are American High Schools as cliche and stereotypical as they are in movies?Yes, its just like in the movies where the entire school will randomly break out in dance...Are American High Schools as cliche and stereotypical as they are in movies?
Stupid question. Is anything as cliche and stereotypical as it is in the movies? Are American High Schools as cliche and stereotypical as they are in movies? In a way. but those movies are all REALLY exaggerated. Are American High Schools as cliche and stereotypical as they are in movies?
