Do you think that American movies follow the same history over and over? Or pattern?

A philosopher once said that there are only six original ideas in the world; after that, they just get rehashed and recycled.

I don't necessarily believe that there are that few ideas, but let's face it--remakes, sequels, etc. come out because the original did so well. If you see a movie that seems eerily similar to something that did well at the box office, it's just hoping to make as much money as its predecessor.Do you think that American movies follow the same history over and over? Or pattern? If a certain type of movie seems to be making big bucks at the box office, then Hollywood will keep making them to earn a profit. For example, what's big right now are superhero/comic book movies and children/family movies. Also, Seth Rogan seems to be starring in every other comedy that comes out. LOL!
