Ok so I know from reading other peoples questions that some schools ave the full on cliques and some don't but I was wondering if some have people that if you say in their seat in class they would hold a grudge?? Do you get what Im asking? I'm moving to America and I'll be starting sophomore year and everyone will already know each other so I was wondering if there were actually people who have 'their' seats in class...Are American high schools anything like the movies?not really, but there are groups of people, some that think they're better than every one else, the stoner types of people, but it depends and varies every where, you just find the people you get along with best and feel comfortable around
good luck :)Are American high schools anything like the movies?
People has assigned seats, but they won't do much, they'd just ask you to move,.Are American high schools anything like the movies?wow, that is exciting!
all of the school i have gone to in california, arent anything like the movies. you will have people that dont like you but if you are comfortable with yourself you should have no problem making friends
%26amp; most of the time, the teacher assigns the seats you will sit in.
best of luck :]

It is true that students have cliques. I was an immigrant myself and started as a freshman in high school and did face tough tasks. First, I didn't speak English at all, and I was in the middle of students that were studying since kindergarten. I was not. So, all that forced me to be a lonely kid, but at the same time be close to some of my teachers. Though some students saw me a troubled kid and dangerous to mess with, (hearing all that school shootings), some others did attempt to bully me as well. I was in the middle of an ALL if not all most all Spanish speaking students, and speaking English was almost non existent. The students were from Mexico, but also spoke English but did not speak English with their beers since they all have Spanish as their first language. I put more time learning Spanish than English, and learned to speak few Spanish words.
As years go by, more refugee students were brought in the school, and everything turned into clique wars, because now some of them feel intimidated by the new wave of new immigrants coming to their school and so. Basically it was all a test to test the refugee students. I had no choice but to join the once that spoke my language, though did not participate any fights.
I reexamined why it was difficult for them to accept us new comers. Recently, second generation refugee immigrant' kids did not have any problem with current students in these years. I learned it was all about culture clash. The fact that we issolated ourselves into groups, based on culture, language and so, and that creates the mess to start with. Students who usually attempt to mingle with others and ignore their differences are usually accepted one day or another. That show each group you do not belong to a certain clique to rival them or others. More like neutral.
So, my advise is be as open as possible, meaning don't isolate yourself a side, or join any clique. Be friend with everybody, talk to everybody regardless of who they are and what language they speak or etc. Believe me, I examined this and this is the ONLY way to survive in a multicultural society. Be yourself, and interact with others. Isolating yourself sends out the wrong signal, that you have no friends, and that you are scared to be with others. This draws attention to bullies.
The American education system is quite strict in terms of discipline. They have zero tolerance for cheating. That is why a lot of people from Asia are sent back home after caught cheating. Are American high schools anything like the movies?
Movies frequently present a distorted view amd take a number ot things that occur in different schools and roll them into one place or one time and this give a distorted picture./
