What happened to creativity in American TV, Movies and Music?

No really...why is it so boring and bland and stagnant and stale?

Last time I was there the top 5 shows on TV were British:

Survivor

Who's line is it anyway

Weakest Link

Who wants to be a millionaire

American Idol (Pop Idol)

??? Any ideas???What happened to creativity in American TV, Movies and Music? The public don't want creativity in general - they want to sit down and not have to think. It's the same with books too - look at the top books of the past years.

We're turning into sheep - and we let others do our thinking for usWhat happened to creativity in American TV, Movies and Music?
HBO's been coming out with some good stuff. Arrested Development was good (while it lasted). What happened to creativity in American TV, Movies and Music?Gone to the dogs....
America wants what sells. Creativity doesn't sell. Soon the arts will be non-existant and the world will be left with nothing but math and sciences. What happened to creativity in American TV, Movies and Music?Creativity has faded or is being held captive in a box. I am really getting tired of predicting events in shows that i have never seen beforeWhat happened to creativity in American TV, Movies and Music?
Creativity takes time and costs money. Game shows are quick and cheap, and require no real script. It's all about the buck. Even those that require scripts are "ripped from the headlines" and are cookie cutters of each other (Law %26amp; Order, Law %26amp; Order SVU, CSI, CSI Miami, CSI New York, CSI Pocatello, ID). TV seems to like investigators these days. In the 90s, it was doctors (ER, Chicago Hope, etc), in the 80s it was lawyers, in the 70s it was cops. Once a network has a hit, the rest jump on the bandwagon to copy the winning formula. I want westerns to come back, but they are expensive (sets and locations) and would require actual script writing, direction and acting. So, I watch the old stuff that actually worked.
Not only that, but notice how TV, movies and music are all going back and using material from the 50s 60s and 70s. It's like the writers can't think of anything new that will appeal to the masses. What happened to creativity in American TV, Movies and Music?
I agree with Chillipop, we ARE turning into a nation of sheep. And you answered your own question. A lot of our TV shows are just Americanized British TV shows. The networks aren't willing to take chances. One hit spawns millions of cheap knock-offs. The real creativity is in other countries--or, at least, in other countries the creativity hasn't been squashed (yet?). Everybody stop watching the "me, too" shows and see if the networks start encouraging new ideas.
You have a problem with America. I've seen your other anti-American rants. You should just stay in your British hell hole and not watch any American TV shows. And while you're enjoying your exciting British programs, be thankful your country doesn't fly the Nazi flag.
