Why are american movies so?

terrible i mean come on cant we come up with something more along the lines of the grudge and stephan kings it ,which i know is technically not a movie, not stupid movies like halloween and nightmare on elm streetWhy are american movies so?Why should they be concerned when they can keep grinding

out the crap and the people keep giving their money up to go to

them.

I go to a movie maybe once every two or three months to see

something I really feel is going to be good - a few being

Million Dollar Baby, My Sisters Keeper, Primal Fear and others.

I don't pay to see Saw, Halloween, Friday the 13th and the

rest of that stuff. Why are american movies so?
its ok i find myself wondering the same thing. and i have got to say i have no idea. Why are american movies so?Studio heads and executive producers in America have no imagination and only care about making money, not producing something profound or even decent. Why are american movies so?
I agree that many are silly and some claim they are too violent. What would you like to see in a movie? I think that movies have way too much sex in them and this does more harm than the violence which many want to complain about. If you notice that they seldom support monogamy in marriage or support that intimacy should come with a commitment. I wonder why so many marriages are failing? Is it the content of movies? We can be sure it has much to do with it. Halloween and Steven Kings it are cult type movies which means they have certain ones that like King's writings. I never liked his books and thought they were for those who did not have a major in science or did not take college prep courses. EarlWhy are american movies so?Totally agree with you here. Those teenager-at-the-drive-in slashers are fun like once a year, but where are the smart thrillers? Don't see enough of them.

Check out "Orphan." It's still showing in some locations (maybe at the dollar theater by now). It's a good example of the kind of psychological horror film we don't see much anymore. Not cheesy or predictable. No slick one-liners (think: "This IS the end, friend"). It has a surprise twist, and it doesn't end with either of the two usual let-downs: 1) bad guy gets shot (snooze!) or 2) bad guy falls from a high place (snore!).
