In American movies, foreign characters always have British accents, even if they are not British. Why is this?

Because they still sound foreign but Americans can understand them.In American movies, foreign characters always have British accents, even if they are not British. Why is this?Because there are only 3 countries. America, England and the Middle East, and I'll be damned if there are any Middle Easterners in my movie.

Because Americans, such as myself, are in LOVE with british accents.
