This question comes up so many times. It's because the Americans live in our shadow and try to get back at us in there films. Brits are fun!Why are the English frequently portrayed as villains in American movies and television?i was listeneing to a commentary a while ago.. by one of those producers, they love the english accent to be portrayed as a villian and they think we should all talk like them and as we are different, they like to purvey the english with their accents as a nasty/villian. If you watch any movie more or less the main bad guy/girl has an english twang. even the heros are american when it fact it was the english who did the deed!...Why are the English frequently portrayed as villains in American movies and television?

We're (Americans) not prejudice, because we hate everyone. What movies? For every movie that portrays the English as the bad guys, I'll name three where the bad guys are Russian, Mexican, German, Middle Eastern, or Martian. Don't be offended (or proud) when you are portrayed as the bad guy because we can make a bad guy out of anyone! Besides, you are referring to Hollywood.................That's like another Planet with different values, ideas, and standards. They make some good MOVIES!

Because the English are usually the smart ones that's why you don't get many American villains.
because they make great villains, any way they aren't always, i mean Anthony Hopkins though Welsh has made it without resorting to the stereotypical nasty, as has Jude Law, Michael Caine, and many others.
