Are TV shows from the UK and Australia ever shown on regular American television?

Im an aussie and ive never been to america. im really into american movies and TV. in australia most of the shows aired are american, with a few australian shows as well. i am just wondering what type of programs are shown over there. oh and i really hate aussie shows coz i cant take anything they say seriously (might be because of the accent or something?)Are TV shows from the UK and Australia ever shown on regular American television?A number of British and Australian TV series have been shown in the US over the years. The three best-known Aussie series recognizable to most Americans are Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, Prisoner: Cell Block H and the late Steve Irwin's The Crocodile Hunter (though the science magazine show Beyond 2000, the late Sixties adventure series Riptide and the kid's shows Ocean Girl, Bananas In Pajamas [US spelling] and H2O: Just Add Water also found audiences Stateside).

Popular UK series in the US include Doctor Who, Merlin, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The In-Betweeners, the car-nut show Top Gear, The IT Crowd and Primeval.

[British series are shown on local public broadcasting channels and on some cable networks, including BBC America (the ad-supported BBC channel in the US).]Are TV shows from the UK and Australia ever shown on regular American television? Why would they be shown. I'm also Australian, and our TV shows are horrible. I wish they werent even on, I would be happy to watch 100% foreign content except for news. I know shows with a degree of quality like Summer Heights High, Wilfred and Underbelly have been shown on cable tv in America, but I cannot think of any other show someone would want to export. It's not the accent, the shows are just poorly written and produced, the money isn't put into them the same way it is in America. I know it sounds unpatriotic, but I'm sorry - they are just terrible. Are TV shows from the UK and Australia ever shown on regular American television?your local PBS (Public Broadcasting Channel) may have some

we watched Are You Being Served, Last of the Summer Wine (years ago)

Keeping Up Appearances, Allo Allo, Waiting for God, and Are You Being Served, Again

and on some remote sports channels - we get Australian Rules Football

best bet may be satellite TV - check the channel guide on line

for the two biggies - - Dish Network and Direct TV

all the bestAre TV shows from the UK and Australia ever shown on regular American television?
I would think so, I mean I'm Australian too but if we have their shows then I would think that they have ours. Packed to the rafters is shown in quite a few overseas countries, I know that (I love that show :D )

%26amp; I love Australian shows and American shows... UK shows? Probably, I can't think of any examples that I've seen... Hmm.
